I hold a Trauma Certificate – Level 2 from the Trauma and Resiliency Centre and have taken many trauma informed workshops on a variety of recognized counseling modalities, specifically, Narrative Approaches, Feminist Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Staged Trauma Therapy.
I am an EMDR Clinician having completed the Phase 1 & 2 Certificate Training Course from the Niagara Stress & Trauma Clinic. EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. This is an evidence- based approach to therapy that works to help process traumatic memories and to reduce, manage or eliminate trauma impacts, specifically, flashbacks, dissociation, nightmares, triggers, anxiety, depression, self injurious and self destructive behaviour.
I have worked at one of the Ontario Sexual Assault Treatment Centres; The Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault Care Centre (DASA) of York region, interned at the York Region Abuse Program (YRAP) as well as worked at the Durham Rape Crisis Centre.
Most importantly, I am a genuine, authentic, down to earth, knowledgeable and compassionate person. I believe that clients are the experts on their own life and will collaboratively engage with clients in therapeutic conversation to bear witness to and work through whatever they are up against.
